Le dixieme jour

Nous nous sommes réveillés très tôt ce matin et puis nous avons quitté l'hôtel à sept heures pour Bayonne. Pendant les premières deux heures, la plupart de notre groupe a dormi. Après Nantes, le reste du groupe s'est reveillé à cause du soleil et de la musique française et anglaise à la radio. Le voyage n'était jamais ennuyeux parce que tout le monde a joué à des jeux ensemble. Aussi, nous avons chanté les chansons de la radio. Nous avons découvert que les aires d'autoroute ont des petits magasins, des cafétarias et aussi des restaurants. Nous avons conduit à travers la région des vignobles. C'est très similaire au Minnesota, à l'Iowa et au Wisconsin. Après dix heures dans l'autobus, nous sommes arrivés à Bayonne. L'hôtel était ouvert cette fois mais il est plus petit que l'autre hôtel. Pour le dîner, nous avons mangé de la soupe, du poulet avec des légumes et du gâteau au chocolat. Maintenant, nous sommes prêts pour notre premier jour à Bayonne!

We woke up early this morning, checked out of the hotel, and were on the road by 7 AM, headed to Bayonne in the south of France.  For the first two hours of our trip, most of us slept. The sun was just rising over the rolling hills covered in mist and we felt right at home as we drove past wind turbines and farm fields. After passing Nantes, the rest of the group awoke to bright sunlight and a mixture of upbeat French and American songs on the radio. The trip was never dull since everyone joined in on playing games. As typical Luther students, we also sang along to songs on the radio. A fun discovery for us was stopping at a rest area which included a convenience store, a cafeteria, and a restaurant. We then proceeded to drive through the wine country, seeing many vineyards along the way. The landscape was not much different from the landscape of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. We arrived safely in Bayonne after 10 and a half hours on the bus. Our hotel was open this time, but much different from the previous one. Although our rooms are small and rather outdated, it was very nice to be off the bus and able to relax. For dinner we had a three-course meal of broccoli soup, chicken with vegerables and rice, and chocolate cake with a vanilla pudding. The rest of the evening we spent exploring, unpacking, and anticipating our upcoming adventures in Bayonne.
