This morning, we were able to sleep an extra hour. What a difference that made! Our first activity was a guided historical tour of Quimper. The guide was great and gave us very interesting facts about the city including that the cathedral is from the 13th century, Quimper was once a walled city and that the city is named after the Breton word for a confluence of rivers (Kemper).
After lunch, we met with tourism students from the University of Western Brittany and had a discussion of our expectations of France and the French people and their expectations of the US and Americans. The students had fun questions for us and were very gracious hosts. Some of our new friends even came into town and spent some time with us.
Later at night, we had an awesome group dinner at a local crêperie and were joined by a few Luther alum who now live and work in the area. It was great to end our week in Quimper and spend quality time as a group. All for now! Off to Bayonne tomorrow.
